School

This is Rivermead Christian Academy. Below is the 1st grade class I helped teach. Their names are from top to bottom: Sisonke, Audrey, Gugu, Zicwongile, Sanelisikile, Mihle, Divine, and Linathi. It took me awhile to get the pronounciations down! I so enjoyed teaching them. They are wonderful kids!

I did a little art class using what we had around. We took oil drums and painted them to use as new trash bins for the school. The kids had a blast!

All schools in S.A., even rural schools, are required to wear a uniform. You can see Rivermead's nice plaid ones. The kids look so cute in them.
The school buildings may not be in the best shape, but the landscape around the school is beautiful!
This the outside of the boys hostel. Our school is outside of Kokstad and some children travel from other towns, so they offer a hostel for the children to live in.

The lady on the left is a teacher at Rivermead and the one in the middle was the secretary. Very sweet ladies!

There are only 7 white children at the school and 5 are staff children. The school generally caters to the middle class black community.
